1. Define Core Technical Parameters
To start your steam boiler selection, you must clarify the following two primary metrics:
(1). Steam Consumption (Evaporation Rate in t/h)
Calculate the total steam demand of all equipment and add a 10%–20% safety margin to handle peak fluctuations.
①Small-Scale Industries: (Food processing, laundry, ironing, etc.) 100kg/h – 1,000kg/h.
② Medium-Sized Factories: (Food industry, textile dyeing and printing, chemical, papermaking, etc.) 2t/h – 10t/h.
③ Large-Scale Industries: (Pharmaceuticals, rubber, autoclaved building materials, etc.) Above 20t/h.
Example: If your total calculated demand is 1.68 t/h, a 2t/h steam boiler is recommended.
(2). Steam Pressure and Temperature
① Saturated Steam: Pressure and temperature are directly proportional. For most industrial applications, a pressure range of 0.7 MPa to 1.6 MPa is sufficient.
0.7 MPa ≈ 170°C
1.6 MPa ≈ 204°C
② Superheated Steam: If your process requires temperatures higher than the saturation point, you must opt for a superheated steam boiler.
Note: When selecting, it is necessary to ensure the boiler’s rated pressure covers both the equipment’s peak requirement and the pressure drop across the piping system.
2. Select Based on Fuel Type and Operating Cost
Fuel is the largest ongoing expense. Your choice should balance local resource availability with emission standards:
Biomass & Coal Boilers (Cost-Effective):
Biomass boilers (using wood chips, tree branches, or agricultural straw) are highly recommended for regions with abundant natural resources. They offer the lowest fuel costs.
Oil & Gas Fired Boilers (Eco-Friendly):
These boilers provide cleaner emissions and high automation, meeting strict global environmental standards.
Electric Boilers:
While having higher operating costs, they produce zero emissions and are ideal for small-scale applications or regions with low electricity prices.
3. Boiler Structure and Application
(1) Vertical Boilers:
Compact design, simple structure and small size, easy to use. Perfect for small industrial applications with a capacity below 2t/h.
(2) Horizontal Boilers (Three-Pass Fire Tube or Water Tube):
Features a large heating surface and high thermal efficiency. Best suited for medium to large-scale industrial use (≥4t/h).
(3) Condensing Boilers:
These can achieve 5%–8% higher efficiency than standard models by recovering waste heat. Highly recommended for oil or gas-fired boilers for long-term, continuous operation.
4. Safety and Manufacturer Reliability
Safety is non-negotiable in industrial boiler operation. When selecting a partner, prioritize:
